5 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Hitting ‘Print’

There are two ways for your marketing piece to go viral. The first way is to have something truly awesome that people want to share. The second is to have an unfortunate mistake that people spread through the internet and mock all along the way.

Obviously, you’d prefer to go with the former. So to avoid having the latter happen to you, we’ve put together a list of five questions you should ask yourself before you hit ‘print’. Avoid these mistakes and you might just save yourself and your church some embarrassment.

1. Can any text on this be taken sexually?

You might have a pure mind, but your potential readers probably don’t. Run your graphic by a teenage boy to see if it passes the Giggle Test. If they giggle or hide a smile, rethink the wording.

2. Did I put the church name on the piece?

“This is the single most amazing marketing piece ever! But who is it for? What church is this?”

3. Did I remove all filler text?

Lorem ipsum is really helpful. But make sure you actually got content before you hit ‘print’ and send it to thousands of people.

4. Did I remember to buy the stock photo?

Nothing says cheap like an iStockPhoto watermark on your print piece. Make sure you bought the image and that you replaced the low-res proof version in your PSD.

5. Any unfortunate typos?

Typos are nearly impossible to eliminate—at least 100%. Just make sure it isn’t an obvious one.
